Autumn Plant Sale 2025

Hello Gardeners

The garden's Autumn Plant Sale is nearly here. With the sun expected to shine, it's the perfect opportunity to explore the garden, find some unique plants to take home, and indulge in delicious treats. All money raised at the plant sale goes back into maintaining and growing the garden.

Autumn Plant Sale - Sunday 13th April

9am to 1pm, 61 Bowker St, North Brighton

Plant Sale

After plenty of TLC by our hard-working volunteers, we have lots of seedlings and plants ready for their new home.

Our greenhouse and outdoor nursery are overflowing with vegetable, herb and ornamental plants in readiness for our Autumn plant sale.

Bake sale

Our bake sale has become a popular feature of the Open Days.  To make this year’s Autumn bake sale a success we need your help.

Donations of baked goods – we’re calling on all baking enthusiasts to contribute their homemade delights.  Remember to include a list of ingredients with your baked creations to ensure everyone can enjoy them safely. Food handling rules prevents us selling goods that contain fresh cream or custard.

Come along to the Open Day and indulge in some delicious treats!

Craft for Sale

Garden Aprons - Debra has been hard at work on the sewing machine, making another batch of Garden Aprons. I’ve had a sneak peek at this year’s batch, and they are all lovely. There are lots of colours and patterns to choose from. These were very popular at last year’s Autumn Sale and sold out early.

Handmade fabric bags- these lovely bags have been made and donated by one of our garden members. They would make great sustainable gift bags, something to put Easter goodies in.

Children Activities

We have been very fortunate to have some very special people donate their time and skills to organise a number of different children's activities.

Nature Potion Play 9am to 1pm -Janet has put together a lovely nature-based activity for children of all ages. This has been a very popular activity at our recent open days.

Fairy & Dinosaur gardens, make sure to check out the new dinosaur garden and the ever-popular fairy garden.

We’ve got some updated scavenger hunt games hot off the press, with warm season, cool season and year-round variations for the kids to enjoy. They’ll be available in our sensory garden, created by Beau.

Whats Been Happening

Cooking Demonstration & Shared Meal

Sunday’s cooking demonstration and communal meal was outstanding success. A sincere thank you everyone who participated. Garden members prepared a variety of dishes, featuring produce from the garden, and shared the recipes and preparation methods. The dishes were then shared and enjoyed by all attendees. This event exemplifies the community spirit work in the garden. We hope to hold more events like this on a quarterly basis.

Dishes included:

Grilled polenta with eggplant & mushrooms

Homemade bread with rosemary and grilled on BBQ

Sweet potato curry featuring sweet potato leaves

Triangles filled with various greens and herbs from the garden

Triangles filled with tromboncino and spices

Pesto pasta with green beans and potatoes

Thai pea eggplant curry

Fetta dip & hummus dip both served with pomegranate seeds

Baked potato & sweet potato

Lime Slice

Anzac style of biscuits with lime

Meringues made using the leftover chickpea water, served with a mix of fruit from the garden including mango, dragon fruit and quince.

Art Project - Garden Totems

We’ve had our first Garden Totem workshop. Attendees got to relax and paint pots that will go towards creating garden totems.

There will be more of these workshops, so if you missed out keep a look out for the next one.

We are still looking for donations of terracotta pots, all shapes and sizes are welcome.

Please email us if you want to help or talk to Lisa when you visit the garden. The goal is to have everything ready for the Spring Open Day.

Hope to see you at our Autumn Plant Sale.
